Women's Golf In Third After First Two Rounds of UNCW Invitational
03/25/2003 WILMINGTON, N.C. - The East Carolina University women's golf team is in third place after the first two rounds of the UNCW Lady Seahawk Invitational. The tournament, which is being hosting by UNC Wilmington is being played at the par-72, 5, 957-yard River Landing Golf Club in Wilmington, N.C. Fourteen teams are participating in the three round tournament. The Lady Pirates were in seventh place after the first round of play, shooting a 306, but came back in round two with a low score of 294 to move into third position with a combined score of 600. The women are just five stroked off the leader, Campbell University which finished the day at 595. Indiana holds the second place spot at 596. Jessica Krasny leads the ECU women. She is in second place at 141, having shot a 70 in round one and a 71 in round two. Krasny is just one stroke behind the leader. Freshman Heidi Hellieson is currently the second highest finisher for East Carolina. She is in a tie for 13th place at 150. "I am real proud of the way we played, coming back in the afternoon," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "We really hung in there and have put ourselves in a position to win this tournament. Jessica Krasny played wonderful for us. She hit the ball well, and her short game was extremely sharp. Heidi Hellieson also had another good day for us, and I'm proud of the effort she gave us. We will be playing in the last group for round three, which was what we wanted, and hopefully we will bring home a win." The third and final round of the tournament will be played on Tuesday, with a shotgun start beginning at 8:30 a.m.
