Lady Pirates In First At John Kirk/ Lady Panther Intercollegiate

STOCKBRIDGE, GA. - The East Carolina women's golf team fired an opening round of 307 Monday, April 3 and sits in first place after 18-holes at the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate. The 14-team event had to battle some strong winds on a sunny day after having tee times delayed three hours in the morning due to rain. The Pirates hold a two-stroke lead after carding a 307 at the par-72, 6,009-yard Eagle's Landing Country Club. Coastal Carolina and Memphis are tied for second at 309. Kentucky is in fourth, just one stroke ahead of Georgia State in fifth at 314. Georgia State's Joanna Klatten and Kentucky's Ali Kicklighter are tied for first as both shot a one-over-par 73 in the two-round event. ECU has all five golfers sitting in the top-25 with two rounds to play. Emelie Lind posted a three-over 75 and is tied for fifth, while Lene Krog is tied for seventh with a 76. Heidi Helliesen and Jamie Quinn both shot a 78 which is good enough for a share of 17th and Jessica Hauser is tied for 24th with an opening round of 79. The final round of the John Kirk/Lady Panther Intercollegiate will be held Tuesday, April 4 at Eagle's Landing Country Club with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m. First-round results can be found at www.GeorgiaStateSports.com.
