WALLACE, N.C. - East Carolina braved high winds and fast greens to take a commanding 13-stroke lead in the 11th Lady Seahawk Women's Golf Classic Monday at River Landing Golf Club.

Playing in flag-bending conditions, the Pirates used a balanced lineup to build a 13-stroke margin over second place Old Dominion heading into Tuesday's final round on the Par 72, 6,011-yard layout. ECU freshman Fanny Wolte tops the individual leaderboard with a 73-75=148 total.

ECU, bidding for its first title in the event's history, leads the 10-team field with a 294-309=603 scorecard, following by ODU at 308-308=616. Elon sits in third with a 312-310=622 and James Madison holds down fourth place at 315-308=623. Host UNCW stands in seventh place with a 316-323=639.

Individually, Wolte, from Graz, Austria, ended up 4-over-par in Monday's two rounds. She holds a two-stroke lead over ODU's Elizabeth Haycock and JMU's Catrine Gunnarsson, who each carded a 75-75=150.

All five Pirates are currently sitting in the Top-22 with 18 holes remaining. Amy Otteson (72-79=151) is in sole possession of fourth, while Amber Littman (72-81=153) is in sixth, Colleen Estes (77-77=154) is tied for seventh and Faith Hardison (81-78=159) is tied for 22nd.

The elements kept the 55-player field from yielding a single sub-par round in Monday's two rounds. In fact, only two players managed to shoot even par on the opening day of the tournament.

The teams will play the third and final round of the event on Tuesday, beginning with a shotgun start at 8:45 a.m.
