Kirk and Wolte Named To 2014 C-USA All-Academic Team

IRVING, Texas - East Carolina junior Katie Kirk and senior Fanny Wolte are two of six women's golfers named to the 2014 Conference USA Women's Golf All-Academic Team after a vote by the league's sports information director's for women's golf. For Kirk it is her first league all-academic honor, while Wolte makes her third-straight appearance on the list after being selected in 2012 and 2013.

Wolte, a three-team C-USA All-Academic Team member, has played in nine events for the Pirates and owns a 74.81 seasonal stroke average. The senior has finished in the Top-31 in six of the nine events, including three Top-15 placements. Wolte opened the season with a share of seventh place at the MOMorial, firing a 4-over 220. The Graz, Austria, native posted two Top-11 finishes in past three events, placing seventh at the Clover Cup with a 5-over 221.

For her career, Wolte holds a stroke average of 75.13 (second all-time at ECU) in 43 career events and has two career wins to go along with three Top-5's, 10 Top-10's and 18 Top-20's. A marketing major with a 3.97 GPA, Wolte is a three-time All-C-USA performer, a three-time National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Division I Scholar All-American, a four-time C-USA Commissioner's Academic Medal Winner and four-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll member.

Kirk has competed in nine events and carries a 75.41 seasonal stroke average. Kirk has finished in the Top-30 in four of nine events including two Top-15 placements. She recorded a 70 in the second round of the Old Waverly, which tied a career-low round, and carded a 3-over 219 for a share of 12th place. The Davidson, N.C., native earned a fourth-place finish in the season opening event at The MOMorial with a 2-over 218.

During her three-year Pirate career, Kirk owns a 77.23 stroke average, which ranks 10th all-time among golfers who have completed at least 50 rounds, and has posted three Top-5's, three Top-10's and six Top-20's. An economics major with a 3.98 GPA, Kirk is a two-time National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Division I Scholar All-American, and a three-time Conference USA Commissioner's Academic and Honor Roll recipient.



Kirk, Wolte and the Pirates will be back in action April 21-23 when they participate in the 2014 Conference USA Championships. The three-day event is being held at the Peninsula Golf Club in Gulf Shores, Ala.
