GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina Women's Golf Coach Kevin Williams as announced that Brittany Talton has committed to play golf for the Pirates beginning in the Fall of 2012. Talton will join early signees Lane Gakeler, Frida Gustafsson-Spang and Nicoline Engstrom Skaug as incoming freshmen for the 2012-13 season.

""We are very excited about Brittany joining our women's golf program and becoming the fourth member of the Class of 2012," Williams said. "On paper Brittany joins the best recruiting class we have ever signed. I am very excited about the future direction of our program based on the impact I feel this class will have for our program."

Earned team MVP honors as a junior and senior at Smithfield Selma High School ... Two-time Greater Neuse River 4A Conference Player-of-the-Year (junior and senior) ... During senior season finished second at the 4A Regionals, which were held at Duke University ... Finished 11th at the 4A N.C. State Finals at Pinehurst as a senior ... Claimed second place at the 2011 AAU Nationals ... Placed first at the 2011 Eastern Junior Golf Association's Gates Four Tournament ... Fifth place finish at the 2011 Tarheel Golf Foundation's Wake County Junior Championships ... Four-time all-conference scholastic honoree ... Member of the National Honor Society, National Technical Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theta.

Coach Williams' Comments: She has made great strides this last year with her game and when she gets around our team next year I expect to see her game grow even faster. Brittany has tremendous athleticism and a lot of club head speed, which are two key ingredients to continued growth in the game."
