Gainesville, Fla. - The East Carolina women's golf team recorded a school-record three-over-par 283 to finish in first-place after round one of the NCAA East Regional at the Mark Bostick Golf Course in Gainesville, Fla.

Junior's Abby Bools and Ana Maria Puche each fired personal-best rounds of 68 and current sit atop the leader board, one stroke ahead of a group of seven golfers in a field of 108 participants.

Amber Littman is tied for 23rd after an opening round of 73, while freshman Amy Otteson (74) is one stroke behind in 34th. Colleen Estes rounds out the Pirates first day action with an 18-hole score of 82, claiming a share of 82nd place.

The Pirates hold a one-shot lead over Alabama (284) and a three shot advantage over Vanderbilt (286). Rounding out the top five are the University of Denver (287) and top-ranked Virginia (290).

ECU will kick off the second round at 11:50 a.m. and will once again be paired with Conference USA champs Tulane and host school Florida.

A total of 16 top-50 squads are participating in the three-day event including six teams who finished in the Top-25 at the NCAA Championship a year ago. Competition will resume on Friday, May 8 at the Mark Bostick Golf Course with a morning tee time of 7:30 EDT. For live coverage of the competition, visit: www.golfstat.com.
