Lene Krog and Jessica Hauser Named To NGCA All-America Scholar Team
July 17, 2006 GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina's Lene Krog (Leir, Norway) and Jessica Hauser (Germantown, N.C.) have been named to the NCAA Division I All-American Scholar Team, announced today by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA). Krog and Hauser (a two-time recipient) are two of 371 Division I, II and III women's golfers nationwide to be named to the All-Scholar Team. The criteria for selection to the All-Scholar Team are some of the most stringent of all college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50 and student-athletes must have competed in at least 50 percent (Division I) or 66 percent (Division II & III) of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year. Krog, a business major, competed in 10 events for the Pirates this past season collecting six top five finishes, including the Conference USA all-around championship, and had eight top ten placements. She helped the Lady Pirates to their first ever team C-USA Championship during her freshman season and their third NCAA East Regional appearance. Krog finished her initial campaign with a 74.52 stroke average and garnered C-USA Freshman-of-the-Year and first-team all-conference accolades. Hauser, a communications major, also participated in ten events on the year recording a pair of top 25 placements, including a share of 20th place at the C-USA Championships. She completed 29 rounds in competition with an 18-hole average of 79.66. Off the course, both Krog and Hauser were named to the ECU's Director of Athletics Honor Roll for the fall and spring semesters, earned the distinguished Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal and were named to the 2005-06 C-USA Honor Roll. Krog and Hauser join former Pirate standout Margaret Mitchell (2002, 2003 and 2004) and Michelle Williams (2005) as other Lady Pirates that have been named NGCA All-American Scholars.
