ECU Women In Second Place After Second Round of Tournament
09/07/2002 MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - The East Carolina University women's golf team is currently in second place of the Unlimited Potential Bay Tree Classic after today's second round of play. The women were in first place after round one. Thirty six teams composed of 180 players are participating in the three round tournament which is being held at the 72 par, 5,873 yard Bay Tree Golf Course in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Adrienne Millican leads all players with a two day score of 144. She shot 73 in round one, and 71 today. Margaret Mitchell and Jessica Krasny both are tied for eighth place with matching scores of 151, Krasny led the individuals yesterday, shooting even par, today she was seven over with a score of 79. Mitchell finished round two with a score of 74, after having shot 79 yesterday afternoon. As a team, the Pirates have a two round score of 603, just one stroke behind the current leader, UNC Wilmington, which stands at 603. "We had another solid day of competition," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "We are playing just as well as we have been practicing and I am pleased with how well we are doing. Hopefully we will be able to play with the same focus and intensity tomorrow and come away with the win." The third and final round of the tournament will be tomorrow morning with the top 18 teams having a shotgun start beginning at 9:15 a.m. on the Green Course at Bay Tree.
