ECU Women's Golf Sits In Third Place At Wolverine Invitational
09/14/2002 ANN ARBOR, MICH. - The East Carolina University women's golf team sits in third place after the first day of the Wolverine Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan. The tournament, in which 11 teams are participating, is being played at the par-72, 5,927 yard University of Michigan Golf Course. The Pirates combined for a two-round score of 622, 12 shots behind the leader, Indiana University, which finished the day at 610. The University of Michigan sits in second place with a score of 619. Michigan finished 16th at the NCAA Championships last season, while Indiana was ranked among the top 40 teams in the nation. East Carolina's Jessica Krasny and Adrienne Millican sit in a tie for fourth place along with Ambry Bishop of Indiana. All three women finished the day at 152, eight shots over par. Karen Dennison of Indiana leads the field with a two-round final of 146, two shots over par. Krasny and Millican both shot 75 in the first round, and 77 in round two. "We've got to give Jessica and Adrienne a little more help," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "We have the potential to be a really good team, but right now we are just not getting it done. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for us and we will be able to close in on the second place spot." The Pirates complete play tomorrow morning.
