Women's Golf Finishes Third At Wolverine Invitational
09/15/2002 ANN ARBOR, MICH. - The East Carolina University women's golf team finished in third place after the final round of the Wolverine Invitational hosted by the University of Michigan. The tournament, in which 11 teams are participating, is being played at the par-72, 5,927 yard University of Michigan Golf Course. The Pirates combined for a final three-round score of 941, 28 shots behind the leader, Indiana University, which finished the tournament at 913. The University of Michigan finished in second place with a score of 928. Michigan finished 16th at the NCAA Championships last season, while Indiana was ranked among the top 40 teams in the nation. East Carolina's Jessica Krasny and Adrienne Millican finished the course tied for sixth place with scores of 231. Both ladies shot 79 in the final round of the tournament. Indiana's Karen Dennison was the individual winner with a score of 219, three over par. "We really struggled today," said ECU head coach Kevin Williams. "Overall it was a positive experience for us. This was an extremely tough course with fast greens. We are hoping to use this as a learning experience to get us better prepared for our tournament at Penn State in three weeks." East Carolina's win/loss record now stands at 41-3. The Pirates will next play at the Nittany Lion Invitational, hosted by Penn State University. The tournament will be played at the Penn State Blue Course in State College, Penn.
