GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team will open the 2010 season Sunday, Sept. 26 when they participate in the UNCG Starmount Fall Classic, which is hosted by the UNC Greensboro. The event will be played at the par-72, 6,323-yard Bryan Park Players Course in Greensboro, N.C.

The Pirates, who are ranked No. 56 in Golfweek/Sagarin Performance Index, will be joined in the 15-team field by East Tennessee State (No. 51), Furman (No. 53), High Point, Gardner-Webb, Maryland (No. 58), Miami (Fla.), N.C. State (No. 65), Mississippi State, Penn State, Stetson (No. 72), UNC Greensboro, UNC Wilmington, Western Carolina and Winthrop.

ECU Head Coach Kevin Williams will send senior Amber Littman to the tee in the No. 1 spot this weekend. The Stoney Creek, N.C. native is a two-time All-Conference USA performer and currently owns a 76.13 career stroke average, which ranks fourth all-time at East Carolina. Freshman Fanny Wolte will make her collegiate debut this weekend as the Pirates No. 2 player, while 2010 second-team All C-USA member Amy Otteson will man the third spot in the lineup.

Redshirt freshman Faith Hardison will also maker her collegiate debut when she tees off in the No. 4 spot, while three-time National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) All-America Scholar Colleen Estes is the No. 5 golfer. Rounding out the Pirates' roster for the event is junior Julia Strandberg, who will participate as an individual

The 54-hole tournament begins with opening round play at 8:30 a.m. on Sunday. Second round play tees off with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. on Monday with Tuesday's final round scheduled for a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
