Women's Golf Claims Third Place At Taco Bell Intercollegiate
10/12/2004 GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's golf team claimed their second straight top-three placement in a tournament today as they carded a final round 293 for a third place finish at the 2004 Taco Bell Intercollegiate. The tournament was being played at the par-72, 6, 093-yard Bradford Creek Golf Club. The Pirates (30-12-0) placed two golfers in the top-11 with senior Adrienne Millican finishing tied for fifth (72-73-71=216) and Heidi Helliesen tied for 11th (76-71-73=220). Fellow Pirate golfer Michelle Williams carded a pair of 73's during the tournament for a 54-hole total of 225. Garrett Phillips of Augusta State leaped over team mate Patti Hogeboom to claim the individual title with a final score of 212 (72-71=69). Maryland's Katie Stepanek (213) finished second and Hogeboom and Brooke Mangan (UAB) finished third. In the team portion of the tournament, Augusta State (869) set a fall event record by posting a final round of 285, which broke their second round record of 287, to claim the team title. Coastal Carolina finished seven strokes back at 876, while ECU fired a 54-hole score of 883. ECU will be back in action on Oct. 22-24 when they participate in the Lady Paladin Intercollegiate in Greenville, S.C. Top Pirate Finishes Top Individual Finishes Top Team Finishes
