Campbell Tops ECU In Season Opener, 2-1 (OT)
Aug. 17, 2012 BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Ashley Clark scored the game-winning goal just four minutes into the overtime period lifting Campbell (1-0) to a 2-1 win over East Carolina (0-1) Friday night in the 2012 season opener for both squads at the Eakes Athletic Complex. With the game knotted at one, Clark received a two-time pass from Kirsty Meyer and Alexis Prada firing a shot from the left side of the pitch just outside the box past ECU keeper Christiane Cordero. Campbell wasted little time in getting on the board as Taylor Brown staked the Camels to a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute of play. ECU was whistled for a foul at the 6:50 mark and Brown scored on a free kick from 25 yards out for her first goal of the season. After a 90-minute lightning delay in the second half, ECU's Lexi Miller netted the equalizer on a cross pass from Rachel Fuller at the 66:32 mark. For Miller it was her third career goal, while Fuller was credited with her first career assist. Campbell keeper Ryann Torrero faced 11 shots recording nine saves, while Cordero collected three saves. Chrissy Gratz led the Pirates with six shots (two on goal), while Miller, Hali Oughton and Rachel Wechsler each added two strikes. Clark paced the Camels with six shots (two on goal) and Michelle Procaccini recorded a pair of shots. ECU out shot Campbell 17-11, 10 to 5 in shots on goal, while holding an 8-5 advantage in corner kicks. The Pirates will return to the pitch on Wednesday, Aug. 22 when they play host to Old Dominion at the ECU Soccer Stadium with a 7 p.m. (ET) scheduled start. POST MATCH NOTES
