GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The East Carolina women's soccer team got a pair of goals from senior forward Meghan McCallion (Long Island, N.Y.) as they cruised to a 3-1 victory over Longwood University Thursday afternoon at Bunting Field in exhibition play.

McCallion broke a scoreless tie in the second period when she netted her first goal off a pass from junior Allison Howell (Advance, NC) and beat Anne Whitmore one-on-one in the goal box.

Eighteen minutes later, freshman Madison Keller (Clarksburg, Md.) received a pass from Tracy FitzGerald (Fairfax Station, Va.) in the box and placed a perfect ball in the net for the game-winning goal.

The Lancers held off an aggressive Pirate attack in the third period, which saw ECU record six of its 21 shots. During the fourth 30-minute period, Longwood finally got on the board when Anna Gravely found a loose ball in the box and tapped in the Lancers lone goal.

With eight minutes remaining in the final period, McCallion collected her second goal when she fired a 20-yard shot into the right corner of the net.

Freshman Amber Campbell (Frederick, Md.) played all 120 minutes allowing one goal and recording seven saves for the Pirates.

ECU will open up regular season play on Friday, Aug. 26, when they take on Loyola in Harrisburg, Va. at the James Madison Tournament at 5 p.m.
