GREENVILLE, N.C.--Amy Szilard scored off a free kick from Nicole Moore with two minutes remaining in the first overtime to lift East Carolina to a 1-0 victory over Old Dominion Friday afternoon at Bunting Field. With the win, the Pirates improve to 2-1-0 while Old Dominion falls to 1-1-0.

Old Dominion outshot the Pirates 13-7, while holding ECU without a shot in the second half. Amber Campbell tallied five saves in her 12th career shutout, while ODU's Lauren Tupman had four saves on the afternoon.

"It wasn't a pretty win, but we are happy with the victory," head coach Rob Donnenwirth said. "Things aren't clicking with the team right now, but sooner or later things will. We won on guts today. Old Dominion is a very good team and Shavon Knight is a very talented player. The last ball that Nicole (Moore) hit was a great ball and Amy (Szilard) had an excellent look at it and was able to score. At times we have been struggling to find a rhythm, but overall the team is very happy to get a win."

ECU will remain at home on Sunday, Sept. 9 as the team hosts Furman at 1:00 p.m.
