EL PASO, Texas - Katie Dorman scored her third goal of the season in the 65th minute to lift UTEP to a 3-2 win over East Carolina Sunday afternoon at University Field in Conference USA action. With the win the Miners improve to 8-2-1 overall and 2-0 in league play, while the Pirates fall to 5-3-1 and 0-2.

UTEP wasted little time in getting on the board scoring in the eighth minute when Brittany Kindzierski received a through ball from Dorman staking the Miners to an early 1-0 lead.

The Pirates knotted the game at one early in the second half on the first of two goals by junior Caty Butler at the 51:26 mark. Butler, who leads the team in goals (7) and points (16), headed a ball in the back of the net for the equalizer on a deflected ball. Leah Bagonis was credited with her team-leading sixth assist. Senior Amanda Malkiewicz was also credited with an assist on Butler's scoring strike, the 19th of her career, moving her into sole possession of second place all-time at ECU.

Azia Nicholson and Dorman pushed the Miners lead to 3-1 scoring a pair of quick goals in the 63rd and 65th minute securing their eighth win of the season. Tess Hall found Nicholson on a one-timer pass off a free kick before assisting on Dorman's game-winner on another free kick.

Butler pulled ECU within one at the 80:12 mark for her second goal of the afternoon when she headed a ball home off a pass from Chrissy Gratz. Hali Oughton was also credited with an assist on the goal, her second of the season.

Miner goalkeeper Sarah Dilling notched her eighth win of the year after recording five saves in 90 minutes of action. ECU keeper Christiane Cordero registered just one save in 68 minutes in the loss, while Berit Hansen made her second appearance in goal of the season logging 22 minutes.

The Pirates held a commanding 13-7 advantage in shots, including 11 in the second half, while also winning the corner kick battle 5-2.
