COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Tiffany Brown's goal in the final minutes of regulation lifted Colorado College to a 2-1 victory over East Carolina Friday afternoon. ECU moves to 9-3-3 on the year, 3-2-1 in C-USA action while Colorado College improves to 8-4-3, 3-2-1 in league play. The Tigers got on board first, as Emily Beans scored on a shot off a rebound from Brown 24:06 into the game, giving Colorado College the early 1-0 lead. Just seconds later, the Pirates answered, as Bailey Wilcox connected on a diving header off a pass from Jessica Swanson to record her first career goal, tying the game at one goal a piece. The game remained tied at the break. The second half was a defensive battle for both squads and just as it looked like the game was going into extra time, Brown found the back of the net to lift the Tigers to a 2-1 lead with 4:33 remaining, giving them the eventual victory. East Carolina had six shots on the day, three coming on goal. The Tigers had 17 shots, eight on goal. CC's Geneva Sills tallied two saves on the day while Amber Campbell had six. "Colorado College was a good team," head coach Rob Donnenwirth said. "They made us really work for everything out on the field. They moved the ball well. Our backs defended well but they had some good chances. Amber Campbell made some great saves today. I thought Bailey Wilcox, from the forward position, did a very good job scoring her first collegiate goal. Now we just need to get ready for Sunday."
East Carolina will remain on the road this weekend as they travel to UTEP on Sunday, Oct.28 for the teams final road contest of the regular season. Kick-off from El Paso is set for 2:00 p.m. |
