Cordero And Oughton Named To All-State Team

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina backfield duo of Christiane Cordero and Hali Oughton have been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association second-team the organization announced Wednesday afternoon.
Cordero produced one of the best Pirate seasons in goal leading the league with 10 shutouts on her way to first-team All Conference USA honors. Her 10 clean sheets tied the ECU single-season record matching Amber Campbell's feat from the 2007 season. She posted an 1.02 goals against average (21 goals), recorded 90 saves (.811 save percentage) and logged 1,854 minutes in the net.
The Valencia, Calif. was named College Sports Madness C-USA Defensive Player-of-the-Year, was a three-time C-USA Player-of-the-Week selection, earned College Sports Madness Player-of-the-Week accolades and garnered National Player-of-the-Week honors from Soccer News Net. In league play, she posted a league-best eight shutouts allowing seven goals in 11 matches (0.61 GAA), while recording 61 saves (.897 percentage) in 1,028 minutes.
Oughton, who also was a first-team All C-USA selection, closed out her career with 60 consecutive starts dating back to Oct. 30, 2009. As a senior, Oughton has also played a vital role in the Pirates 10 shutouts playing 1,840 minutes. Offensively, she collected seven points scoring three goals and recording one assist with a career-best three points (goal, assist) against Davidson. She recorded her third career game-winning goal at Southern Miss on a penalty kick in the 12th minute of play.
