Soccer Heads To Notre Dame For Sunday Match

Match Notes GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will be back in action Sunday, Aug. 26 when they travel to Notre Dame for a 1 p.m. (ET) at Alumni Stadium. The Pirates (1-1) are coming off a 1-0 shutout win over future Conference USA foe Old Dominion last Wednesday. Freshman Kendall Frey netted her first collegiate goal in the 70th minute of play on a header inside the box. Junior Christiane Cordero, who was rarely challenged in the match, notched her eighth career shutout recording one save. Notre Dame (1-1) also picked up its first win of the 2012 season defeating C-USA member Tulsa 2-0 Friday night at Hurricane Soccer & Track Stadium. Junior Elizabeth Tucker scored a pair of goals in the opening 19 minutes, and freshman goalkeeper Elyse Hight made five saves in her second career game. Sunday's matchup will be the first between the two institutions and will mark the 24th time the Pirates have played a current member of the Big East Conference.
