The Pirate soccer team will host the ECU Soccer Tournament on Friday, Aug. 30 and Sunday, Sept. 1 at the ECU Soccer Stadium. ECU will take on UNCG beginning at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Western Carolina at 2 p.m. on Sunday.

The tournament begins Friday at 5 p.m. with UNC Wilmington taking on Western Carolina. Sunday's action starts at noon as UNCG battles UNCW. The Seahawks will return to Greenville to face the Pirates on Sept. 6.

The Pirates are off to a 1-0-1 start this season, posting a 2-0 victory over Davidson in their season opener before earning a 1-1 double overtime draw at Elon. Juniors Skylar Poole and Stephanie Seagrave along with freshman Kelsey Reeves have each scored a goal this for two points apiece. Freshman Lana Spitler also has two points recording a pair of assists.

Sophomore transfer Saundra Baron has played all 200 minutes in goal this season, allowing just one goal against 12 shot attempts. She recorded eight saves in the Elon match.

Western Carolina is the only unbeaten team in this weekend's field. The Catamounts opened the season with a pair of 2-0 wins, defeating Lipscomb and Eastern Kentucky. Four players have accounted for all four of their goals, while goalkeepers Carly Tintsman and Jenny Lauer have played 90 minutes each.

UNCG split its first two games of the year, both in double overtime, winning at Hawaii (1-0) before falling to Washington (0-1). Chesney White has scored the Spartans lone goal of the season with an assist from Georgia Brown. Jamie Simmons has logged all 210:50 between the posts with 13 saves.

UNCW is winless on the season with losses at South Carolina (0-2) and Charlotte (0-1).

Friday night's meeting between the Pirates and Spartans will mark just the second meeting between the two schools. UNCG won the lone previous meeting, 2-0 in 2010. ECU holds a 4-1 advantage over its cross-state opponent. Sunday will be the Pirates' first match against WCU since 2008.
