GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will close out its home non-conference schedule Thursday, Sept. 6 when it plays host to in-state foe High Point at the ECU Soccer Stadium at 7 p.m. (ET).
The Pirates (2-3) are coming off a split weekend at home where they shutout Davidson (3-0) Friday night, but dropped a close match to Charlotte (1-0) on Monday.
Against the Wildcats, three Pirates netted their first goals of the season in Chrissy Gratz, Hali Oughton (game-winner) and Stephanie Seagrave (first career strike). Redshirt sophomore Danielle Romano recorded assists on both Oughton and Seagrave's goals coming off corner kicks. Oughton also picked up an assist in the match on Gratz' ninth career goal, finishing the match with a career-best three points.
Pirate keeper Christiane Cordero collected her second shutout of the season and ninth career clean sheet with one save in 90 minutes of action against Davidson. Against Charlotte she allowed one goal and registered three saves in the Pirates first home loss of the season.
In a game that saw aggressive and stellar defensive play by both clubs on Monday night, Charlotte took an early lead in the first half when Carrie Dail scored her first goal of the 2012 campaign from 35 yards out off a pass from Darby Broeker. The Pirates had their opportunities in the match out shooting the 49ers 11-7, but only had three shots on goal compared to five for Charlotte.
High Point (1-1-3) rolls into Greenville on the heels of its first win of the season against Appalachian State over the weekend. The Panthers lone loss came against then No. 25 Auburn on the road, 4-1, and has collected three ties (VCU, Tennessee Tech and Georgia Southern).
Thursday's matchup will be the fifth between the two institutions with the Pirates holding a 4-0 advantage.

Senior Hali Oughton has started 45-straight matches dating back to Oct. 30, 2009 against Marshall ... In 63 career games (61 starts), the Redondo Beach, Calif. native has recorded 14 career points (three goals, eight assists) ... Against Davidson, she collected a career-best three points scoring the game-winning goal (second career) and assisting on Chrissy Gratz' goal in the 59th minute of action.
First Career Starts
Sophomore Kelly Miller became the third Pirate to record her first collegiate start on the season ... The Zionsville, Ind. got the start against Charlotte (9/3) recording one shot (on goal) ... A pair of true freshmen made their first collegiate starts in the first two matches of the 2012 season ... Haley Patsey got the start in the season opener at Campbell (8/17) playing every minute in the Pirate backfield ... Kelsie Halstenrud made her first start against ODU (8/22) in the home opener.
Along with Halstenrud and Patsey, fellow classmates Jackie Cajigal (vs. Davidson), Kendall Frey (vs. Campbell) and Lexi Herring (vs. Davidson) all made their collegiate debuts this season ... Frey logged 32 minutes of action and recorded a shot on goal, while Cajigal and Herring did not record any statistics.
First Career Goals
Frey netted her first collegiate goal against ODU (8/22) in the home opener ... In the 70th minute of play, Danielle Romano served a pass to Kelly Miller, who then sent a center pass from the right that Frey headed into the right side o the goal for the would-be game-winner ... Stephanie Seagrave scored her first goal against Davidson (8/31) on a corner kick in ECU's 3-0 victory ... Once again Romano was credited with an assist sending a ball into the box, where Seagrave headed the ball past the keeper.
