GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The East Carolina women's soccer team is preparing for its last non-conference match of the season, against Miami (Fla.) before heading to conference foe Marquette on Sunday.

The Pirates (6-4-4, 2-1-3) and the Hurricanes (8-6-0, 2-3-0) are meeting for the first time in each others program history. ECU is hoping to snap its two game winless streak, the longest of the season, with a win Friday morning over Miami. Last weekened, ECU recorded a tie in a pair of Conference USA matches against Saint Louis, 1-1, and DePaul, 1-1.

On Sunday, Oct. 19, the Lady Pirates find themselves in Milwaukee, Wis. to take on fellow C-USA member, Marquette. The Golden Eagles (7-6-1, 4-2-0) are lead by senior forward Carolyn Klopp, who has two goals and assists on the season. Defensively, Marquette will look to junior goalkeeper Katie Bissen to neutralize the Pirate attack. Bissen has recorded five shut outs on the season and has given up less than one goal per game (.90).

The Pirates will counter with an offense that is ranks in the top five in five different offensive categories, including points 70 (tie-third) and assists 24 (second). Sophomore forward Meghan McCallion leads the attack with nine goals on 64 shots, second in C-USA, and freshman Anastasia Nikas has recorded seven assists to lead the Pirates and C-USA, and is tied for 27th nationally in assists per game.

Defensively, the Pirates look to extend its unbeated streak at home, 4-0-3, behind the play of defenders Penny Perrott, Tina Rivera, Megan Schwanke, and goalkeeper Lindsi Troxler. Troxler has recorded three shutouts in 12 starts, while allowing just over a goal a game (1.02).

ECU will travel to Louisville on Oct. 24, and Cincinnati on Oct. 26, before heading home for its final regular season match against Charlotte on Oct. 3, at 2 p.m.
