ECU vs. UTEP Match Guide
GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's soccer team will host its final two matches of the 2010 season this weekend at the North Campus Recreation Complex. Friday's game against UTEP, which starts at 7 p.m., will be held in conjunction with the Second Annual Riley's Army Auction. The Pirates will join the fight against cancer by wearing and auctioning off pink jersey's to help raise money for the Riley's Army charity of Greenville.
Sunday's match against Colorado College, which has been designated as Senior Day, will start at 12 noon and the Pirates will honor Amanda Broz, Jessica Cunningham, Tricia Tufts, Scarlet Van Loon and Bailey Wilcox before the start of the game.
The Pirates (8-7-1, 3-4-1) enter this weekend's action tied with Colorado College (7-5-4, 3-4-1) for sixth place with 10 points and are just one point ahead of eighth place UTEP (10-6-0, 3-5-0). The top six teams will advance to the C-USA Championships (Nov. 3-7) in Orlando, Fla.
ECU will close out the regular season on the road at Marshall (4-8-3, 2-5-1) on Thursday, Oct. 28 with a 6 p.m. (EST) start scheduled. The Herd enter this weekend tied for 10th with seven points and will host Colorado College (Oct. 22), UTEP (Oct. 24) and ECU (Oct. 28) in their last three matches.

Sophomore Chrissy Gratz has three game-winning goals (Francis Marion, ODU and N.C. State) on the season, which is currently tied for third in Conference USA ... The sophomore from Sunrise, Fla. has established a new career-high with four goals in just 14 games, while tying her career-high in points (9).
A trio of Pirates extended their current starting streaks to over 30-games last weekend at UAB ... Junior's Amanda Malkiewicz and Jessica Woodward pushed their consecutive starting streaks to 57 games, while Preseason All-Conference USA selection Bailey Wilcox extended hers to 35-straight matches dating back to the start of the 2009 campaign ... The Pirates dropped their second match this season to a nationally-ranked team when the fell to No. 23 UCF, 5-3, on Sept. 24 ... On Aug. 27, they hosted No. 10 Wake Forest at the North Campus Recreation Complex where they dropped a 2-1 contest ... As of this week (Oct. 18) two of ECU's 2010 opponents are ranked nationally or are receiving votes in the Top-25 polls (UNC Greensboro No. 19/Soccer America and No. 21/NSCAA; Wake Forest No. 22/Soccer Times; Memphis and UCF are receiving votes in the NSCAA poll, while Memphis is also getting votes by Soccer Times).
Cordero Records First Career Shutout:
Christiane Cordero recorded her first career shutout against in-state rival N.C. State on Sept. 10 ... The redshirt freshman logged a career-best 11 saves, which ranks as the third-most (all games) in C-USA this season, in her 90-minutes of work ... Currently Cordero ranks second in saves (77) and fifth in saves per game (4.81 pg) ... She sports an 8-7-1 overall record in 16 starts with 77 saves and a 1.49 goals against average ... She has already logged 1450 minutes in goal, which ranks among ECU's top-10 single-season leaders.
First Career Starts:
Christiane Cordero (GK) and Kimmy Cummings (F) recorded their first career starts in the season opener against UNC Greensboro ... Cordero allowed two goals in 90-minutes of action in the box, while Cummings logged 53 minutes at the forward position ... Since the opening weekend both have started all 16 games for the Pirates ... Sophomore Maddie Maurer has played in all 16 games (7 starts) and notched her first career start at home against No. 10 Wake Forest.
Six Pirates have made their collegiate debuts in 2010 ...
