IRVING, Texas – East women’s soccer player Haley Patsey was named to the 2013 Conference USA Women’s Soccer All-Academic First Team, announced Tuesday by the league office.
Patsey is one of just three Pirates to start and play in each of the team’s 19 games this season, along with fellow defenders in freshman Caitlin Hite and junior Kelley Johnson. Patsey is also the only player on the 2013 roster to have started every game during the last two seasons.
A Cary, N.C., native, Patsey has been a key outside backer on the Pirates’ defensive line, registering 1,612 minutes this season and has played at least 90 minutes in 10 matches. The sophomore tallied her first-career point in East Carolina’s 1-0 road win at Southern Miss on Oct. 27.
As a freshman in 2012, Patsey was selected to Conference USA’s All-Freshman Team for her performance on the field, before earning a C-USA Commissioner’s Academic Medal and being named to both the C-USA and ECU Director of Athletics’ Honor Roll during both semesters for her achievements in the classroom.
