ECU Women's Soccer Concludes Record-Breaking Season

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The East Carolina women's soccer team finished its season last Thursday at the Conference USA tournament in Charlotte. The Pirates who advanced to the semifinals, have marked up the ECU charts in single-season, career and team records as well as receiving all-tournament and academic honors.

Senior Amanda Duffy (Jacksonville, N.C.) broke the career goal record with 33 on the season as well as the career points mark with 83. She also holds the single-season record for goals, points and shots and ranks third in assists. Duffy made the C-USA All-Tournament team this season.

Freshman Meghan McCallion (Bay Shore, N.Y.) made the single-season charts, tying Duffy for third with six assists and tying for second in goals with 10.

Freshman goalkeeper Michelle Kmiotek (Tampa, Fla.) also made the single-season top five taking first in goals against average with 0.66 and tying for fourth with shutouts, 5.0.

Sophomore Krystel Pabey (Naugatck, Conn.) was named to the C-USA All-Tournament team and finished the season with two goals, three assists and seven points.

As a team, the Pirates turned in their best single-season record at 11-6-4 and earned the best home record at 6-0-1.

College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSida) announced last Thursday, November 7, the Verizon Academic All-DistrictTeam. To qualify and individual must keep a grade point average of 3.0 or above and show strong performances on the field. Senior Kristin Hoyle (Longwood, Fla.) was selected to the first team and will be on the Academic All-American ballot. A exercise and sports science major who holds a 4.0 GPA, she demonstrated leadership and strong defensive and offensive play on the soccer field. She finished the season with two goals, two assists and six points.
