Hite, Miller Earn 2013 NCCSIA All-State Recognition
Nov. 25, 2013
GREENVILLE, N.C. - Freshman Caitlin Hite and redshirt junior Lexi Miller were named to the 2013 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) All-State Women's Soccer Teams announced Monday afternoon.
Hite received first team recognition as a defender, while Miller was named to the second team as a midfielder.
In just her first collegiate season, Hite was arguably one of the most important pieces to the Pirates' defense. The Stafford, Va., native started all 21 matches and played every minute in 19 of those contests, which included five double-overtime games. Hite served as the team's left backer all season on a defense that has posted six shutouts and held opponents to a 0.85 shooting percentage. Hite also became the first freshman in program history to earn first team All-C-USA honors, and was also named to the league's 14-member All-Freshman team, while becoming the ninth ECU player in the last eight seasons to accomplish the feat.
Miller had a strong season of her own for ECU, starting 17 of the team's 21 matches. The Raleigh, N.C., native led the team in assists (6), shots (34) and shots on goal (17). Her two goals gave her the third-most points on the team with 10, which included a game-winning goal in double overtime against Western Carolina on Sept. 2. Miller was also named to Conference USA's Preseason Watch List prior to the season.
