Dec. 17, 2009
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Junior midfielder Bailey Wilcox has been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Soccer Team, according to an announcement by the organization Thursday. The selection is the first of Wilcox’s career.
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA, NCCAA) divisions for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball. More than 500 student-athletes have been recognized on all-state teams since 2003.
Earlier this fall, Wilcox was a Second-Team All-Conference USA selection. She started all 19 games for the Pirates en route to earning the first all-league honor of her career. The Spotsylvania, Va., native led the team with a season career-high seven goals, including two in C-USA games. The seven goals placed her eighth in the league rankings.
For the season, she totaled 15 points, good for the second most on the team. She scored her game-winning goal this year against Old Dominion in East Carolina’s 1-0 victory. Against Gardner-Webb, she collected the first assist of her career. During the year, Wilcox took 31 shots with 21 on goal, good for a .677 shot-on-goal percentage.
