ORLANDO, Fla.- Freshman Vanessa Moreno went 3-for-3 with a run scored to help East Carolina complete a three-game Conference USA series sweep of UCF here Sunday, 2-1.

With the victory, the Pirates improved to 39-22 overall and 13-11 in conference play and extended its winning streak to six. The Golden Knights ended the season with a 19-37 overall record and a 4-20 mark in C-USA.

East Carolina broke the scoreless tie in the top of the fifth and scored two runs. Moreno put the Pirates in motion with a one-out double to left field before she advanced to third on an Erin St. Ledger ground out. She then scored on a passed ball. Two batters later, Stephanie Hayes scored on a Jessica Johnson double to right field.

UCF cut East Carolina's lead in half in the bottom of the fifth when Cici Alvarez scored on a single to left center by Cat Snapp.

Keli Harrell (25-14) picked up her third win of the weekend, pitching seven innings and giving up one run on six hits with nine strikeouts. Allison Kime was tagged with the loss, going the distance and giving up two runs on five hits with five strikeouts.

ECU will return to action Thursday in the first round of the 2006 Conference USA Tournament in Tulsa, Okla. The Pirates will be the No. 5 seed in the tournament and will face the yet to be determined fourth seed.
