Pirate Softball To Be Televised By FOX Sports Network

GREENVILLE, N.C. - The final contest of the East Carolina softball team's three-game series against UAB on Sunday, March 9 will be televised live on FOX Sports Network (FSN), according to an announcement made by Conference USA. The contest is scheduled for 12 p.m. ET at the ECU Softball Stadium.

The appearance will mark the fifth straight season the Pirates will have at least one game televised, and the second straight year the Blazers will be the opposition. UAB, ranked No. 21 in the USA Today/NFCA and 25th in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Preseason Polls respectively, won the regular season C-USA crown and reached the NCAA Super Regionals in 2013.

CBS Sports Network will also televise the 2014 C-USA Championship game on May 10 in Boca Raton, Fla.

The Pirates, who were picked fourth in the Conference USA Softball Preseason Poll released Tuesday, were one of just three teams to receive at least one first place vote. UAB was picked to win the league.

East Carolina opens the season Feb. 7-9 in St. George, Utah at the Red Desert Classic. The Pirates' will take on Grand Canyon and BYU the first day, followed by Utah State and Southern Utah on day two and Nevada on the tournament's final day.
