Pirate Baseball Radio Coverage Expanded, Softball Coverage Added for 2003
02/03/2003 GREENVILLE, N.C. -- Fans of East Carolina University baseball and softball fans will be able to follow many of the Pirates' games throughout an expanded area of eastern North Carolina for the 2003 season as a result of a new arrangement with local ESPN Radio affiliates.
The new broadcast plans were unveiled Monday by the Pirate Sports Network. Over 30 ECU baseball games will be carried by three stations: WGHB (1250 AM) in Farmville/Greenville, WRUP (97.9 FM) in New Bern/Morehead City, and WSTK (910 AM) in Jacksonville. Included on the broadcast schedule are every game of ECU's Conference USA road series and complete postseason coverage of the C-USA and NCAA Tournaments. Dan Eberhard, who called play-by-play for selected games on the network last season, takes over that role full-time for 2003 and will be joined by guest commentators throughout the season. ECU softball will receive radio coverage for 14 home games on the same three Pirate Sports Network affiliates. Fans outside the eastern North Carolina listening area will again be able to follow baseball games via ECUpirates.com. Live, streaming audio of all Pirate baseball broadcasts will be available exclusively on the Pirates' official web site. In addtion, for a second consecutive season, a majority of ECU's home and away games--including many of those not being broadcast--will have a live, official statistics and play-by-play feed available on ECUpirates.com. Following is the complete, tentative broadcast schedule for ECU baseball and softball. Pirate Sports Network
