Harrell Named C-USA Pitcher Of The Week

Irving, Texas --- East Carolina sophomore pitcher Keli Harrell has been named Conference USA Pitcher of the Week league officials announced Monday.

Harrell, a native of Greenville and J.H. Rose High School graduate, posted a 2-0 record this past weekend at the Georgia State First Pitch Classic, leading the Pirates' to the tournament title. Harrell struck out 19 batters in 9.1 innings during her two appearances. In the tournament opener against Tennessee Tech, she tossed a complete game, one-hit shutout with 15 strikeouts. She also fanned four batters in 2.1 innings of relief against Georgia State in the championship game to earn the victory.

Harrell is 3-0 this season with 34 strikeouts in 19.1 innings pitched and has held opposing hitters to a .034 batting average.

Harrell and her teammates return to action Friday as East Carolina hosts the Holiday Inn Express Pirate Classic. ECU plays its first game Friday at 2 p.m. against Radford.
