04/04/2004 LOUISVILLE, Ky. - - The University of Louisville softball team completed a three-game sweep of East Carolina with a 6-0 win over the Pirates Sunday in Conference USA action at Ulmer Stadium. The Cardinals got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first when Michelle Vasquez singled, moved to second on Sara Bausher's base hit and scored on a single by Lacy Wood. U of L added another run in the second when Candi Hicks reached on a fielder's choice and took second on Audrey Rendon's sacrifice bunt. Shannon Nord's single brought Hicks home to make it a 2-0 game. The Cards put up another run in the third frame when Bausher walked to lead off the inning. An ECU error and a wild pitch moved her to third and she scored on a hit by Courtney Moore to increase the lead to 3-0. The fourth inning saw two more Cardinal runs when Vasquez singled to set up Bausher's two-run shot to left field, making the score 5-0. Louisville capped off the scoring in the fifth when Hicks reached on an error, stole second, took third on Rendon's sacrifice and crossed the plate on Nord's single for the 6-0 win. U of L starter Aja Sherman (8-2) got the win, posting her third consecutive complete-game shutout. Sherman scattered three hits in seven innings and struck out six. East Carolina starter Keli Harrell (10-3) took the loss, allowing three earned runs on six hits and striking out two in six innings. The Pirates fall to 35-11-1 (4-7 C-USA).
