IRVING, Texas - For the third year in a row, East Carolina senior outfielder Jill Jelnick was named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team in an announcement made by the league office on Thursday afternoon.

After earning the recognition following the 2012 and 2013 seasons , Jelnick becomes the first softball player in school history to win the award three times. Five other players in program history earned the award twice, including Cristen Anoa, Jessica Johnson, Charina Sumner, Kaui Tom and Toni Paisley.

An Aliso Viejo, Calif., native, Jelnick owns a perfect 4.0 GPA over her four years at East Carolina. During that time, she has been named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll each semester. In 2012, she was named a Capital One Academic All-District 3 First Team choice before being named a Second Team Academic All-American.

On the field, Jelnick missed 18 of the first 19 games of the season due to an injury, but rebounded to hit .329 with a .425 slugging percentage during the regular season. She is also consistent as a fielder and has not committed an error since 2012.

Just twelve players were named to the team, as Jelnick and Tulsa senior Jill Barrett were the only two three-time honorees.
