BOCA RATON, Fla. – East Carolina senior Jill Jelnick was named to the 2014 Conference USA All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the league’s championship game on Saturday afternoon.

The all-tournament team nod is the second of her career, as Jelnick was named to the squad as a freshman in 2011 while helping the Pirates to the C-USA Championship. She is just the second player in program history to receive the honor twice in a career.

In the lineup as the designated player, the Aliso Viejo, Calif., native hit a key fly ball that led to three of the teams four runs in the first inning of ECU’s 4-1 win over FIU in the first round of the C-USA tournament, before going 3-for-4 with a walk, run scored and one RBI in the semifinal against Marshall.

On Thursday, she was one of just 12 players named to the C-USA All-Academic Team and became the first player in program history to be honored three times.

Jelnick batted a career-best .338 during her final campaign with 27 hits, four doubles and one home run while striking out just five times in nearly 100 plate appearances. She also did not commit a single fielding error all season, a streak that has continued since her sophomore season in 2012.
