CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Senior first baseman Jessica Johnson has been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Softball Team, according to an announcement by the organization Thursday. The selection is the second of Johnson’s career, as she was also named to the squad in 2007.

NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA) divisions for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball. More than 500 student-athletes have been recognized on all-state teams since 2003.

The latest award adds to Johnson’s post-season honors haul as she is a First-Team All-Conference USA, First-Team All-Region, Conference USA All-Academic and ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second-Team choice. The Laguna Niguel, Calif., native was also named East Carolina’s Most Outstanding Female Scholar-Athlete for the 2008-09 school year.

Johnson led the Pirates with a .346 batting average, 54 hits, 11 doubles, eight home runs, 37 runs batted in and a .583 slugging percentage. She was also among the C-USA leaders in walks (29/5th), RBI (t-5th), slugging percentage (6th), on base percentage (.461/t-6th), total bases (91/7th), home runs (t-7th) and doubles (9th).

The March 30 C-USA Hitter-of-the-Week sits second in ECU history in home runs (33), third in walks (104), fifth in RBI (151) and eighth in hits (191). In the all-time Conference USA ranks, Johnson is tied for seventh in career home runs and eighth in RBI.
