Jelnick Named Chair of C-USA SAAC Committee

IRVING, Texas – East Carolina senior softball player Jill Jelnick to be the chair of the Conference USA Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the 2013-14 year.
The group’s strategic plan involves enhancing the total student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting the welfare of student-athlete and to develop leadership in a diverse, unified conference.
As the chair of the committee, Jelnick’s responsibilities will include leading all executive meetings including obligations for setting the agenda, guiding the conversation, and seeking partnerships with outside organizations. She will also serve as the spokesperson for the C-USA SAAC and liaison to the C-USA SAAC Staff. Her main objective is to ensure that all matters that relate to the purpose and mission of the committee are being addressed and resolved.
Jelnick maintains a perfect 4.0 GPA as an English major and was a member of the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Second Team and a three-time C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll selection and Academic Medal recipient. She has been involved with more than 20 community outreach events, which included serving as captain of the 2013 Relay for Life and numerous SAAC initiatives. Jelnick was also in charge of the softball team's 2nd Annual Pink Ribbon game to help raise awareness for breast cancer research. A native of Aliso Viejo, Calif., Jelnick has twice been selected to the C-USA All-Academic softball team.
