Head Coach Beth Keylon-Randolph
Sept. 24, 2013
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Entering her second season at the helm of the East Carolina softball program, head coach Beth Keylon-Randolph announced the team’s 2013 fall schedule Tuesday.
“We have 12 new players who joined us this season and it’s exciting to look at what we’re doing and see where we’re going,” said Keylon-Randolph. “It’s about the fundamentals, understanding the game and getting to know what our skills and abilities are and how they work together. You can have the best group of kids, but you have to make sure the best play the best, together. I think that’s what the fall really works towards.”
The Pirates will open the autumn season Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Ray Chandler Memorial Tournament in Raleigh, N.C., where the squad will take on UNC Greensboro at a time yet to be determined.
October will be the busiest for East Carolina, but the team will stay at home for six games during the week of Oct. 11-18. The Pirates will host Fayetteville State on Friday, Oct. 11 at 6 p.m., before taking on Coastal Carolina in a doubleheader the following day beginning at 2 p.m. To conclude the busy weekend, Mount Olive will come to Greenville on Sunday, Oct. 13 for a doubleheader scheduled for a 1 p.m., start.
“It’s great to be at home in front of Pirate Nation, our facilities are beautiful and they’re second to none,” Keylon-Randolph said. “I think it’s important to showcase what we’ve brought in and what our returners have gained working with us.”
ECU will close out its fall season Friday, Oct. 18 when it welcomes a local opponent in Pitt Community College. First pitch for that contest will be announced at a later time.
East Carolina will announce its full spring and conference schedules in the coming weeks.
