GREENVILLE, N.C. – The East Carolina softball team will close the book on its 2013 fall season this Friday, Oct. 18, when it hosts Pitt Community College in a doubleheader at the ECU Softball Stadium. First pitch for game one is scheduled for 5 p.m.

Pitt CC, located just outside of Greenville in Winterville, N.C., has reached the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division I tournament in two of the past three seasons.

Last weekend, the Pirates hosted Fayetteville State, Coastal Carolina and Mount Olive over the course of three days. ECU’s bats were on full display Friday night, when the Pirates pounded out 21 hits in defeated Fayetteville State, 27-1. The squad then swept a doubleheader over Coastal Carolina the following day with a 5-4 win in game one, followed by a 5-3 victory in game two. The Pirates concluded the weekend with a 16-1 triumph over Mount Olive on Sunday afternoon, before the second game was called due to inclement weather in the third inning.

Among the top performers as redshirt junior catcher Abby Wynne who went 4-for-4 in Friday’s contest against the Broncos, before hitting a pair of home runs over the course of the final two days against the Chanticleers and Trojans. Freshman catcher Alex Mycek finished the weekend with three home runs, while sophomore pitcher Sarah Christian was the winning pitcher in all four games.
