Coach Morris on Melis Tanik: "Melis,our team captain, had a truly great fall, posting a record of 11-3 at No. 1 singles and 9 -3 mark at No. 2 and 3 doubles. Melis has added power to a very consistent baseline game produced a strong fall season. She is an extremely dedicated player and has shown tremendous improvement in the last year. We will look to Melis to continue to win matches this spring at the top of our lineup."

Transferred into the East Carolina program prior to the fall campaign after two seasons at then-Big East Conference member West Virginia.

Fall 2013: Recorded a team-best 11 wins opposed to just three losses during the fall season ... Just one of her three setbacks came in straight sets ... Reached the second round of the ITA Carolinas Regional singles draw before falling in three sets to UNC's 92nd-ranked Tessa Lyons ... Won all three of her singles matches at both the Davidson Invitational and ECU Invitational, respectively ... Posted a 10-3 doubles mark, which included victories in each of her first six matches ... Notched three wins with Samantha Light at the Davidson Invitational, Sept. 6-7 ... Won three matchups when paired with Dana Gray and two with Michelle Castro.

2012-13: Playing primarily at the No. 2 spot, led East Carolina with a 17-6 dual singles record in her first spring season with the Pirates ... Won every match in straight sets, including a streak of eight-straight victories from Mar. 19-April 6 ... Rotated between the No. 1 and No. 2 positions in the doubles lineup, winning 10 total contests ... Won nine doubles matches when paired with Yilian Zhang and one with Dana Gray ... Turned in a strong performance during her initial semester with the Pirates, rolling to a 10-3 fall singles record ... Won six of 12 doubles matches, pairing with Neena Wanko (4-2), Dana Gray (1-1) and Nicole LaDuca (1-3) ... Went 2-1 in both singles and doubles play during her East Carolina debut at the Davidson Invitational before capturing a singles flight title at the Charlotte Invitational with a 3-0 performance ... Won another flight championship at the Appalachian State Invitational (3-0) before closing fall play by splitting two matches at the ECU Invite ... Teamed with LaDuca for a 1-1 double mark at the ITA Regional Tournament in Winston-Salem.

2010-12 (West Virginia):Signed with the WVU program in November, 2009 and played for the Mountaineers during the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons ... Experienced limited spring action, but teamed with Mary Chupa to capture the Flight B Doubles championship of the Martha Thorn Invitational during fall play in 2011 ... Selected as WVU's Student-Athlete-of-the-Week on Oct. 11 (following doubles success) ... Inked with former Mountaineer coach Marc Walters, who resigned prior to the start of the 2010-11 season.

High School/Junior Tennis: Was a four-time all-state and all-conference standout at the Ravenscroft School where she helped lead the Ravens to the 2008 state championship and the 2009 TISAC Conference title ... Earned four letters and served as team captain during her junior and senior seasons for coach Debbie Peak... Also was the recipient of Ravencroft's "Coaches Award" as a junior and was selected as team MVP a year later ... Reached a career-high No. 1 state ranking according to TennisRecruiting.comwhile playing under the tutelage of coach Dan Johnson and her father, Onder ... Earned a regional rank among the Top 30 and a national standing in the Top 90 in the nation before enrolling at WVU.
