GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's tennis squad took four of six singles matches and earned the doubles point to post a 5-2 non-conference triumph over Liberty Thursday afternoon and remain undefeated in spring dual match play.

The Lady Pirates improved their record to 3-0 on the season, while Liberty fell to 0-2.

Liberty captured singles wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots as Jordan Jenkins defeated Jessica Cook (6-3, 6-4) and Ekaterina Kuznetsova fought off a late charge from Varinia Soler before picking up a 6-3, 7-6 victory. It wasn't until East Carolina's Mireia Gol got past Stephanie Brown (7-6, 6-3) when the Lady Pirates took control of the match. ECU's No. 4 player, Brooke Walter, followed by upending Martyna Hanusz (6-0, 6-4) before Luiza Borges followed with a win over Hannah Fick (6-3, 6-3) at No. 5 and Tamara Sachs rallied back for a 1-6, 6-1, 10-2 triumph over Fabiana Gouveia at the No. 6 position.

In doubles play, Alex Smith and Walter teamed up to cruise past Brown and Hanusz 8-3 at the top position, while Liberty's Jenkins and Kuznetsova upset Cook and Gol (8-5) at No. 2. Hannah Priest and Soler clinched the point by notching an 8-4 victory over Fick and Gouveia (8-4) at the third slot.

The Lady Pirates will be back in action Saturday, hosting Charleston Southern and North Carolina A&T in a split doubleheader scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
