East Carolina Rolls Past Campbell 6-1

Buies Creek, N.C. - East Carolina secured the doubles point and used five singles wins to capture its fifth road victory of the season in a 6-1 non-conference triumph over Campbell Tuesday afternoon at the James Nisbet Tennis Center. With the win, East Carolina improved to 7-3 while Campbell dropped to 3-3. ECU enjoyed a strong start, taking two doubles matches to garner the opening point. An 8-5 victory by Jessica Cook and Audrey LePottier at the No. 1 position over Campbell’s Cristina Garcia and Ana Surviladze was followed by an 8-3 win by the tandem of Natalie Collins and Brooke Walter at No. 3 to secure the tally. Campbell opened singles play with a victory in the No. 1 match as Sutton defeated Cook 7-5, 6-3 but the Pirates put the contest away by having the upper hand in the remaining five positions. LePottier dismissed Borislava Nikolova 6-4, 6-2 at No. 2, Collins turned back Surviladze 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3, Petra Vogel routed Gomar 6-0, 6-3 at No. 4, Walter cruised past Ros 6-1, 6-2 at No. 5 and Yilian Zhang defeated Nikoletta Kaposzta 6-1, 6-1 at No. 6.
