HUMACAO, P.R. - East Carolina posted straight-set wins in 11 of 12 singles matches and captured five of six doubles bouts while recording 6-1 and 7-0 non-conference victories over Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras and Bryant, respectively, in women's tennis doubleheader action Monday afternoon at the Palmas Del Mar Resort.

In the opener against PR-Rio Piedras, ECU combined to post a 24-5 doubles ledger and a 60-4 singles mark from the top five positions in its lineup. Emily Groeneveld and Scarlett Walston opened pairs play with an 8-0 win at No. 2 before top-seeded Melis Tanik and Betsy Zurawel secured the opening tally with an 8-1 victory. Groeneveld and Zurawel followed with straight-set 6-0, 6-0 triumphs at the No. 2 and No. 3 slots to spark the Pirates in singles play.

Against Bryant in the nightcap, Michelle Castro and Groeneveld edged the Bulldogs' Marion Bouillin and Briana Leonard 8-7 in a No. 2 doubles matchup to help East Carolina jump out to a 1-0 lead before sweeping all six singles meetings. Dana Gray (6-2, 6-2 at No. 4), Maria Storozheva (6-2, 6-3 at No. 3), Tanik (6-2, 6-4 at No. 1) and Groeneveld (6-3, 6-4 at No. 2) all cruised to wins, while Walston (6-3, 7-5 at No. 6) and Zurawel (6-2, 7-6) were both pushed in the second set before earning triumphs.
