HUMACAO, P.R. - Dana Gray and Emily Groeneveld earned pivotal singles wins to lift East Carolina past Seton Hall 4-3 in the opening match and fuel a doubleheader sweep Tuesday afternoon at the Palmas Del Mar Resort.

ECU formally closed out its visit to Puerto Rico with a 7-0 shutout of Robert Morris College (Ill.) in the nightcap to wrap up its spring trip with a perfect 4-0 mark following a pair of triumphs Monday.

The two victories Tuesday also marked the 298th and 299th for head coach Tom Morris during his 16-year tenure directing the Pirate program.

While Gray, a 7-5, 6-2 winner over Madison Shoemaker at No. 5, and Groeneveld, who outlasted Rocio Portela 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 3, provided the clinchers during singles play, Melis Tanik and Betsy Zurawel added a key tie-breaking 8-7 doubles triumph at No. 3 to secure the first point.

Zurawel also added a 6-2, 6-0 singles decision over Julie Martiny at the No. 6 slot to extend the lead before Seton Hall quickly earned tallies for wins at No. 1, No. 4 and No. 2 to set up Gray and Groeneveld's match deciders.

In the finale against the Eagles, ECU's top five singles players combined to post a 60-6 clip and its top two doubles tandems won both matches by an 8-1 count. Maria Storozheva, Dana Gray and Scarlett Walston all recorded straight-set 6-0, 6-0 victories at the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 positions to lead the Pirates.

East Carolina (9-6) will enjoy a 10-day layoff before traveling to Conway, S.C., for a meeting with Coastal Carolina on Friday, March 21. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
