ECU Women's Tennis Blanks Mount Olive, Barton

GREENVILLE, N.C. - East Carolina posted 10 straight-set wins out of a possible 18 matches while recording consecutive 7-0 non-conference victories over Mount Olive and Barton in doubleheader action Saturday afternoon at the ECU Tennis Complex.
The pair of triumphs improved the Lady Pirates' spring dual match record to 13-6 while Mount Olive and Barton dropped to 3-10 and 2-6, respectively.
In the opener against Mount Olive, ECU combined to record a 24-1 doubles ledger and a 72-6 singles mark during its shutout. Tandems Mireia Gol/Varinia Soler and Luiza Borges/Zandy Overcash each recorded 8-0 victories to help the Lady Pirates tally the doubles point while Hannah Priest, Alex Smith and Presley Thomas each registered straight-set 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 slots to lead East Carolina in singles play.
Against Barton in the second match, the Lady Pirates again rolled to a 24-1 doubles record before following with a 72-10 singles record. Soler and Gol, along with Priest and Thomas logged 8-0 tandem triumphs to secure ECU's first point over Barton's Chelsea Hsieh/Meaghan Lynch and Kristen Packer/Summer Chase. In singles play, Soler (No. 2), Borges (No. 3) and Brooke Walter (No. 4) each produced 6-0, 6-0 wins to help East Carolina cruise past the Bulldogs in convincing fashion.
The Lady Pirates will return to action Monday when they host the College of Charleston beginning at 1:00 p.m.
