GREENVILLE, N.C. - After dropping a 6-1 Conference USA decision to UCF on Friday morning, East Carolina rebounded to down North Carolina Central by a similar 6-1 score in the evening match at the ECU Tennis Complex.

With the split, the Pirates move to 11-7 overall while the Knights improve to 11-5 and the Eagles fell to 10-5.

In the opener, UCF rolled to the doubles point by sweeping all three sets. Melis Tanik and Yilian Zhang battled Caroline Eberhart and Courtney Griffith at No. 2 before falling 8-6, while ECU's No. 3 tandem of Dana Gray and Danielle Terpko also turned in a competitive effort during an 8-5 setback.

Tanik won her singles bout at the No. 2 position over the Knights' Jenna Doerfler in straight sets (6-3, 6-0), but she was the only Pirate to triumph as UCF captured the remaining five singles matches - dropping only two sets.

Gray and Terpko set the tone from the outset against the Eagles as their 8-0 victory over Julia Aguilar and Brianna Gatson in doubles was complemented by an 8-1 triumph from Tanik and Zhang to clinch the opening point.

The Pirates swept through five of the six singles matches without dropping a set as Nicole LaDuca and Abby Richmond highlighted the effort with duplicate 6-0, 6-0 wins at the No. 5 and No. 6 slots.

In other singles action, Neena Wanko topped Olesya Palko 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1, Tanik dismissed Ekaterina Nekrasova 6-3, 6-1 at No. 2 and Terpko cruised past Rebecca Wood 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4. N.C. Central avoided the shutout and tallied its only point with Aissa Muamba's 6-2, 6-4 victory over Zhang in a No. 3 meeting.

The Pirates will return to action Thursday when it begins a three-day, three-match roadswing at Richmond beginning at 2:00 p.m. ECU will follow by visiting George Washington and Georgetown on Friday and Saturday, respectively, before returning home to face UNC Greensboro on April 10.
