Women's Tennis Prepares for VCU Invitational
01/28/2004

GREENVILLE, N.C. -- East Carolina's women's tennis team will see its first official action in over three months as the Lady Pirates participate in the VCU 4-1 Invitational, scheduled for this Saturday and Sunday in Richmond, Va.

The Lady Pirates will have two matches each day in the four singles, one doubles format. ECU opens with Drexel on Saturday at 8 a.m. and returns to the courts at 6 p.m. to face host VCU. On Sunday, East Carolina takes on Georgetown at noon and American at 4 p.m.

The squad will rely heavily on newcomers this season with four new faces in the lineup. The team's lone senior, Paulina Sierpinski, is not expected to see action this weekend as she continues to recover from a knee injury.

ECU will open its spring dual-match schedule by hosting Conference USA rival Charlotte on Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the ECU Tennis Complex.
