02/28/2003 CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- East Carolina's women's tennis team lost at Charlotte, 6-1, on Friday afternoon in a match that was closer than the final team score indicated.
The Lady Pirates (5-4) took the 49ers (4-4) down to the wire in two doubles matches and went to tie-breakers in a pair of singles matches. In the end, only Raluca Baicu, playing at flight two singles, was able to pull out a victory as she downed Charlotte's Lindsay Morris, 6-4, 6-3.
