GREENVILLE, N.C. - The East Carolina women's tennis team earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors, while junior Dana Gray and sophomore Nicole LaDuca garnered individual ITA accolades for their strong academic efforts during the 2012-13 school year.
The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher on a 4.00 scale. All eligible student-athletes whose names appear on the NCAA eligibility form must have competed in one or more varsity matches and must average into the GPA for the current academic year including fall 2012 and spring 2013.
Gray, a biology and business major, and LaDuca, a communications major, earned ITA Scholar-Athlete status by meeting the criteria of being a varsity letterwinner, posting a grade point average of 3.50 or higher on a 4.00 scale for the current academic year and having been enrolled at ECU for at least two semesters.
On the court, Gray and LaDuca were part of a Pirate squad that finished the year with 12 wins and posted a 7-4 record at home. Gray concluded her sophomore season with a 3-6 singles record and, along with partner Danielle Terpko, notched a 7-8 overall ledger in doubles action. LaDuca earned a 9-7 singles mark and finished her freshman campaign with a 6-9 doubles record with teammate Neena Wanko.
