CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - East Carolina seniors Kirstin Buchanan and Gillie Bailey teamed to win a pair of doubles matches to highlight the Pirates' participation at the ITA Southeast Regional Tournament played last weekend at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.

The tandem opened tourney play with an 8-3 victory over Ina Durcakova and Lucia Vojtkova of Eastern Kentucky and an 8-0 triumph against Elon's Whitney Butcher and Jen Tucci before falling to Kim Coventry and Joelle Schwenk of Kentucky 8-0.

Sophomore Luiza Borges logged ECU's lone singles win after rallying past Kristin Mears (UNC Wilmington) 3-6, 6-0 and 6-2 but fell in second round play to Wake Forest's Blakeley Offutt 6-4 and 7-5.

The Pirates will conclude their fall season October 28-30 with play at the University of South Carolina Invitational in Columbia.
