    GREENSBORO, N.C. - Freshman Danielle Eiler set personal records in three separate top five finishes, including a title in the javelin throw, to lead East Carolina women's track efforts at the Aggie Relays over the weekend at the Irwin Belk Track.

    Eiler's 37.89-meter performance in the javelin, which topped Seton Hall's Mary Beth Weiss' second-place mark of 36.76, was followed by a second-place standing in the discus (41.90 meters) and a fourth-place effort in the shot put (12.50).

    The Pirates turned in first, second and third-place finishes in the hammer throw as junior Chelsea Salisbury took the event with a toss of 48.20 meters. Juniors Emily Thompson and Jessica Georgio were second and third with throws of 44.26 and 41.70 meters, respectively.

    In the track events, seniors Terri Davenport and Megan Walling each posted second-place performances in their respective events. Davenport was clocked at 12.21 in the 100-meter dash while Walling established a new personal record with a 18:56.08 clip in the 5,000-meter run.

    In all, East Carolina recorded 11 top five performances and set a total of nine new personal records. Sophomore Aisha Bilal-Mack added a fifth-place finish in the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.57) and freshman Emily Morin set a personal-best during a fifth-place result in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (13:59.04). Other personal records were set by freshmen Jaslyn Grullon (15.28 in the 100-meter hurdles, 1:09.38 in the 400-meter hurdles), Erin Latta (2:35.87 in the 800 meters) and Grace Pelerin (1.52 in the high jump). In addition, the Pirates' captured the 4x800 relay event with a time of 9:43.02.

     

     

    East Carolina will return to action next weekend when it participates in the Diet Pepsi Classic on the campus of the University of Florida in Gainesville.
